| Point of Interest - As an investor, one should be aware of the long-term fluctuations of the stock market. As the Dow chart above demonstrates, the stock market has made tremendous gains. In fact, the Dow is up over 200 times for the 20th century! But keep in mind that, on occasion, the stock market tested the resolve of investors by retreating dramatically. The most extreme of these declines began in 1929 and by the time it was all over in 1932 the Dow was down 89%. |
