The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a price-weighted index of 30 blue chip stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is widely viewed as the worlds most popular stock market index and as such the Dow Jones Industrial Average is often used as a barometer of the US stock market as a whole.
